Developer Blog #9

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the ninth installment of our Developer Diary series! As we mentioned in our previous post, the next few updates will be a bit shorter as our development team is deeply focused on building the backend infrastructure for our schools account. This is an exciting time for us as we work on enabling broader use of TeachersAI across entire schools.

Bug Fixes

While our team has been heavily focused on building the backend for the schools account, we’ve also been diligently addressing several bugs to enhance your experience with TeachersAI. Here’s a summary of the recent bug fixes:

  1. HASS Subject Content Descriptor Formatting Issue: We fixed a formatting issue where content descriptor options under the HASS subject’s “knowledge and understanding” strand were overlapping or not displaying correctly. This issue has been resolved to ensure that the content is properly formatted and easy to read.
  2. Grade Calculation Errors: A bug causing incorrect grade calculations on certain test examples has been fixed. Previously, grades were not aligning with the percentages; for example, a score that should have been marked as “C” or “A” was incorrectly displayed as “E.” This error has now been corrected to ensure accurate grade representation based on percentage scores.
  3. Subject Overview Page Calculation Error: We addressed an error on the Subject Overview Page where the total percentage calculation for a student’s grades was not accurately reflecting their completed tasks. This fix ensures that the marksbook correctly accounts for only the completed tasks when calculating final percentages, providing a more accurate representation of student performance.
  4. Formatting of Subject Overview Page: We fixed an issue where tasks with long names were causing formatting problems on the Subject Overview Page. Tasks were not aligned correctly due to text size, and we’ve adjusted the layout to prevent this from occurring, ensuring a cleaner and more user-friendly interface.
  5. API Notification Text Removal: A minor issue where the text “API Called Successfully” appeared unnecessarily has been fixed. This text will no longer display, providing a cleaner user experience.
  6. Manual Override of Percentage Not Adjusting Grade: We resolved a bug where manually adjusting a percentage grade for a task did not update the corresponding grade. This issue has been corrected, and the system now properly adjusts the grade when percentages are overridden.
  7. Excel Template Upload Error: An error occurred when users attempted to upload student information via an Excel template for one class, but the data was incorrectly placed in a different class. This issue has been fixed, allowing for accurate uploads and correct placement of student data.

These fixes are part of our ongoing effort to improve TeachersAI and provide a seamless experience for all users. If you encounter any further issues, please let us know so we can continue to refine and enhance the platform.

Call for Schools to Trial TeachersAI

As we continue to refine and develop TeachersAI, we’re looking for more schools to join our trial program for the rest of the year. We have space for about 5 more schools to take advantage of this opportunity. If your school is interested in reducing workload and providing valuable feedback to help us improve our platform, please get in touch!

Trial schools will have access to all the current and upcoming features of TeachersAI and will play a key role in shaping its future. This is a fantastic chance to be at the forefront of educational technology, helping us create a tool that truly supports teachers and enhances the learning experience.

If you’re interested, please reach out to me directly at [email protected]. We would love to work with you and learn how TeachersAI can better meet your school’s needs.

Thank you for your continued support and feedback. We look forward to sharing more updates with you soon!

Cheers,

Stuart
