Developer Blog #15

Hi Teachers,

Welcome to the start of 2025! We hope everyone had a relaxing holiday break and found time to recharge. As February rolls in, we know many educators have hit the ground running—preparing lesson plans, setting up classrooms, and reconnecting with students who are eager to learn. Here at TeachersAI, we’re excited to welcome you back for another year of teaching, learning, and collaboration.

Over the holidays, our team stayed busy behind the scenes, working on a range of updates and improvements designed to make your day-to-day experience smoother and more engaging. From behind-the-scenes infrastructure upgrades to a fresh new look, we’ve been fine-tuning our platform to better support your professional needs—and we can’t wait for you to see (and feel) the differences these changes make.

Throughout this blog post, we’ll walk you through our main achievements, give you a rundown of recent bug fixes, and outline the known issues still under review. We hope these insights help you feel informed, excited, and ready to dive into another year with TeachersAI. Let’s make 2025 a fantastic year for our education community!

Holiday Updates

During the holiday period, our development team focused on three major initiatives to enhance your experience with TeachersAI this year. These improvements cover everything from how schools manage their accounts, to how the platform looks and feels, to the underlying content you use every day. Here’s a closer look:

Setup of School Accounts

We’re excited to announce the launch of a brand-new Administrator Panel dedicated to schools. This initial release makes it faster and easier to bring your entire school community on board:

  • Dedicated School Administration: Schools now have their own secure panel, allowing administrators to add or remove teachers and students, either individually or in bulk via Excel spreadsheets.
  • Classroom Management: Students can be assigned to specific teachers and classes in just a few clicks, helping your school get up and running with TeachersAI in no time.
  • Future Integrations: This is just the first stage of our Administrator Panel. In the future, we have plans to incorporate more tools and links to third parties for additional support for even smoother onboarding.
  • Data and Insights: Further down the track, we’ll roll out advanced analytics and additional administrative tools to help school leaders track progress and make data-driven decisions that enhance learning outcomes.

By focusing on efficiency and scalability now, we’re laying the groundwork for a more powerful, comprehensive platform that adapts to the evolving needs of your school.

Design Update

Our platform has undergone a comprehensive design overhaul, with a focus on creating a more intuitive and visually engaging experience for educators and students. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Redesigned Dashboard: Your new dashboard brings together more of the key links and core content in one convenient place, streamlining your day-to-day navigation.
  • Embedded YouTube Tutorials: Each page now includes tutorial videos to guide you through key features—though please note we’re in the process of updating these to match the new look and feel.
  • Improved Print View: When printing students marked work, you can now choose what to include or exclude, ensuring that only the most relevant information makes it onto the page.
  • Enhanced User Interface: We’ve refined menus, icons, and colour schemes for a smoother user journey. These updates were driven by your feedback and aim to help you find exactly what you need, faster.

With this design update, our goal is to boost efficiency and user satisfaction, allowing you to focus on what truly matters: delivering high-quality learning experiences for your students.

Adjustments and Improvements to Core Content

We’ve made several significant enhancements to the way you interact with, create and customise your ‘tasks’ to give to our AI:

  • Curriculum Tracking: When selecting the AI to mark work according to curriculum descriptors, our system now tracks the content descriptors across various strands. This makes it easier to see exactly which parts of the curriculum are being addressed.
  • Visual Curriculum Mapping: We’ve improved the interface so that you can visually identify which components of the curriculum are prompted, helping you better align your lessons with learning outcomes.
  • Customisable Feedback: You can now personalise the feedback your students receive by adding encouraging comments, setting word limits, and adjusting the tone to suit different learning styles.
  • Minor Adjustments: We’ve also introduced smaller tweaks—like refining menus and workflows—to deliver a smoother, more intuitive experience overall.

In addition to these, we’ve introduced a handy feedback widget across our platform. Simply open it to submit ideas, highlight specific areas of a page, or even attach screenshots—making it easier than ever to show us exactly what you’d like to discuss. Whether you want to share suggestions or report a glitch, this tool allows you to directly shape our future improvements.

Known Issues & Next Steps

While we’ve been busy rolling out our major updates, we nearly overlooked an important announcement from the Western Australian Department of Education, through the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA). They’ve made changes to the English curriculum for 2025, and we’re already in the process of adjusting our systems to reflect these updates.

  • Curriculum Patch: We’re finalising a patch that will amend our site to align with the new curriculum requirements. You can expect this to roll out shortly.
  • Ongoing Feedback: If you spot any discrepancies in the interim, please get in touch with our support team. Your feedback helps us ensure every change is correctly implemented.
  • Future Plans: As curriculum shifts continue to emerge, we’ll keep refining our platform to ensure TeachersAI remains up to date with the latest standards and best practices.

As we embark on a new school year, we’re thrilled to share these improvements and look forward to supporting you every step of the way. Whether you’re exploring the new Administrator Panel, discovering the redesigned dashboard, or putting our updated curriculum-tracking tools to use, we hope you find these changes both practical and inspiring.
