Developer Blog #4

Welcome to the fourth installment of our Developer Diary series! In this blog we once again share with you the latest updates and developments that have been in the works at TeachersAI. This edition covers a brand new home page, improvements, bug fixes, and a sneak peek at an exciting new feature we’re developing.

Enhancements and New Features

We’ve been hard at work to introduce a brand new version of our home page, designed to enhance your user experience by making navigation smoother and more intuitive. Our goal with this redesign is to create a clearer, more user-friendly interface that helps you find what you need quickly and easily.

What’s New?

  • Streamlined Navigation: The new layout features a simplified menu structure, making it easier to access the most important sections of the site.
  • Enhanced Functionality: Key features are now more prominently displayed, including direct links to your dashboard, class management tools, and the latest updates from TeachersAI.
  • Placeholder Images: While we’ve focused on getting the functionality right, you may notice some rather generic placeholder images. Our design team will be updating these soon with more polished visuals to enhance the overall aesthetic of the home page.
  • AI Chatbot Integration: One of the standout features of the new home page is the upcoming integration of our AI chatbot code-named AITA. This tool is designed to assist you with curriculum-related queries and provide support as you navigate the platform (more details on AITA below).

This is the first pass of our new home page, and it’s envisioned that it will be further enhanced as more upcoming content and features are integrated into the site.

The new home page is live, but it’s a work in progress. We value your input and would love to hear your thoughts on the new design. Is it easier to navigate? Are there features you’d like to see? Your feedback is crucial as we continue to refine and improve the site. Please take a moment to explore the changes and share your impressions with us.

Bug Fixing

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving TeachersAI, we’ve addressed several bugs to enhance the overall user experience. Here are the key fixes we’ve implemented:

  • Mark Assessment Link: We’ve corrected an issue where the “Mark Assessment” link was not directing users to the appropriate page. This link now functions correctly, ensuring that you can efficiently access and evaluate student assessments without any hiccups.
  • Visit Class Link: The “Visit Class” link is now properly linking to the dashboard page. This fix ensures that teachers can quickly navigate to their class dashboard, streamlining access to essential classroom management tools.
  • Registration Page: The registration page has been fully updated and completed. We’ve made various enhancements to ensure that new users have a seamless and straightforward registration experience. These updates include more intuitive navigation and clearer instructions, making it easier for new users to get started with TeachersAI.
  • Excel Date Formatting Upload: We have resolved the formatting issue with dates in our Excel template used for uploading student information. Previously, the incorrect date format prevented successful uploads. Dates are now in line with Australian formatting (DD-MM-YYYY), ensuring that date formatting is handled correctly during uploads and making it much easier to adjust student data.

Sneak Peek at Upcoming Content

We are excited to share a glimpse of one of our most ambitious projects currently in development: the TeachersAI Chatbot, codenamed “AITA.” This feature aims to drastically improve how educators interact with our platform by providing a highly interactive and intelligent assistant.

What is AITA? AITA functions similarly to well-known AI chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT but is tailored specifically for the educational sector. It is equipped with knowledge of Australian state curricula, including content descriptors and judging standards.

Key Features:

  • Curriculum Integration: AITA can assist in creating lessons and linking them directly to your state’s curriculum. For example, if you need to develop a lesson plan, AITA can generate a tailored lesson that aligns with specific curriculum standards, providing a comprehensive educational resource at your fingertips.
  • Enhanced User Support: AITA is designed to help with various queries related to the platform, making it easier for users to navigate and utilise TeachersAI’s features efficiently.
  • Interactive Learning: This chatbot can also suggest activities, assessments, and teaching strategies based on the latest educational standards, offering innovative ways to engage students and enhance learning outcomes.

Current Status: AITA is still in the very early stages of development. We envision it as a first step towards a more comprehensive AI-generated program and lesson creator that seamlessly integrates with your assessments and curriculum requirements. While there’s still a lot of work to be done, we’re eager to hear your thoughts and feedback as we move forward with this part of development.
