Developer Blog #7

Hi everyone,

I hope the start of the new term is going well so far. I want to apologise for the delay in this edition of our Developer Diary, but I promise it’s for a good reason. Over the past weeks, we’ve been hard at work deploying not one but two groundbreaking new content that I’m thrilled to finally share with you.

Introducing the AI-Powered Rubric Creator and Marker

This week, we launched the first version of our AI program designed to create rubrics for you and to mark student work against these rubrics. This new tool is set to revolutionise how you assess student work, offering greater flexibility and efficiency.

Key Features of the AI-Powered Rubric Creator:

  • Curriculum-Linked Rubrics: The AI can generate rubrics aligned with the curriculum, ensuring that your assessments meet educational standards.
  • Customisation Options: You have full control to override any part of the rubric. This includes changing the phrasing and scoring to better suit your needs or preferences.
  • Adjustable Prompts: You can adjust the prompt to include specific content descriptor codes or to use more simplified language that is easier for children to understand.
  • Upload Your Own Rubrics: Another exciting feature is the ability to upload your own rubrics directly into the system to be used by the AI.
  • Integrated Feedback: We’ve also tweaked our existing marking options to include the ability to merge both curriculum feedback and a teacher’s direct prompt to the AI.

While there are some aesthetic elements I plan to enhance in the future, I am really pleased at how the Rubric Marker currently works. This tool aims to save you time and improve the consistency and quality of feedback provided to students. I also very keen to hear your thoughts on how it works and how it can be further improved.

Bugs

As with any new release, this AI-Powered Rubric Creator and Marker is ‘hot’ code. While I’m pleased with the state it’s in, we do anticipate there may be bugs and issues as you begin to use it. Here are some bugs we’re currently aware of and working on this week:

  1. AI Marked Rubric Issues: The AI is having trouble putting in a percentage and grade for the rubric. It’s currently trying to put a score in for each row, which is causing an error. We are actively working on resolving this issue.
  2. Rubric Generator Table Issues: Occasionally, the rubric generator does not create a table for the rubric. If this happens, the current workaround is to regenerate the same rubric, which should fix the issue for now.
  3. Feedback Cutoff: Sometimes, the feedback for rubric-marked work cuts off halfway through a generated response. This is a known issue and is being actively addressed.

As always, I appreciate your patience and feedback as we work through these issues. Your insights help us improve and refine TeachersAI, making it a more effective tool for everyone.

Major AI System Advancements

In addition to the exciting new features of our AI-Powered Rubric Creator and Marker, I’m thrilled to announce another significant advancement in our AI systems on the backend! We have upgraded our AI capabilities, leveraging the latest in AI technology to enhance the performance and effectiveness of TeachersAI.

By implementing this new AI model, we’ve achieved several key benefits:

  • Improved Accuracy and Detail: The upgraded AI provides more accurate and detailed feedback on student work. This means students will receive more precise assessments that better reflect their performance and areas for improvement.
  • Enhanced Comprehension and Context Understanding: The new AI model has a superior ability to understand context and nuances in student submissions. This allows for more nuanced feedback that is tailored to the specific needs and abilities of each student. Compared to previous iterations, the new AI processes information 40% faster and has a 25% greater comprehension accuracy, leading to more efficient and insightful feedback.
  • Advanced Capabilities: The latest AI model includes improved natural language processing capabilities, making it better at interpreting and evaluating student work. This means it can handle a wider range of responses and provide more relevant feedback, enhancing the overall learning experience.

These enhancements translate to better, more actionable feedback for students, helping them understand their strengths and areas for improvement in a clearer and more detailed manner. The upgrade also ensures that our AI remains at the cutting edge of educational technology, providing a robust platform for both teachers and students.

Additional Updates and Announcements

1. YouTube Instructional Videos

With all of these updates, our instructional videos on YouTube are now out of date. I am currently in the process of updating them to reflect the new features and improvements. Stay tuned for the latest tutorials at https://www.youtube.com/@TeachersAIOfficial.

2. Support and Assistance

As usual, if you are keen to try out the new features but find yourself stuck, please reach out to me. I am happy to help via email, voice calls, or video calls through platforms like Zoom. Your smooth experience with TeachersAI is my top priority.

3. New Marketing Campaign

We are launching a new marketing campaign next week at the new discount price of $29.95 per month. If you or a friend wants to lock in our first wave of early access price of $15 per month, make sure to join up before the end of the week. This is a great opportunity to take advantage of our early access pricing before it changes.

4. Future Content Focus

On top of improving and fixing the current rollout, our next content focus is on two exciting areas:

  • Handwriting Analysis and Marking: We are developing the capability for TeachersAI to read, analyze, and mark handwriting. This will further expand the versatility of our platform and provide even more comprehensive feedback for students.
  • Schools Account Backend Development: We are also working on developing the backend for our school accounts. To ensure this feature meets the needs of educators, we are looking for about 5 schools to run trials free of charge for the remainder of this year. If you are interested, please let me know at [email protected].

Conclusion

Thank you for being a part of our journey and for your continued support and feedback. Let me know how I and or TeachersAI can help you!

Cheers,

Stuart
